We have achieved a high level of inventory quality by introducing the Material
Receiving Inspection Process (MRI). MRI is an essential function in our quality
process ensuring counterfeit detection and preventive processes are in place –
so the customer can trust the product received. Our inventory quality inspection
process ensures product quality through our zero-tolerance evaluations. For our
Product Procurement Division, all products must pass an extensive 76-point
inspection process based on specific customer and OEM standards before being
accepted for production and prepared for shipment at all of our global
distribution centers. Our internal FTQ and external customer defect rates are at
and above 98% month over month since including the MRI process into our business
model.
Level 1: Visual Inspection
Visual inspection and authenticity verification is conducted on all incoming materials by Converge inspectors.
Visual inspection review includes:
- Manufacturer P/N, quantity, and date code verification
- Body marking inspection (faded marking, broken text, double print, ink stamps, etc.)
- Physical conditions inspection (lead bend, scratches, chipped edges, etc.)
- Taping condition inspection (dented packet, missing parts, etc.)
- Verify moisture barrier protection verification (vacuum sealed, humidity indicator with specification)
- Original factory sealed components vs. non-factory seal - Any visual irregularities
Level 2: Engineering Review
Materials identified as questionable during the visual inspection process are reevaluated by Ace staff engineers. Product sampling plans are also employed to ensure product consistency.
Engineering review includes:
- Review of level 1 findings
- Counterfeit databases referenced and updated
- Label verification (bar code and label review)
- Manufacturer logo and date log verification
- Counterfeit alert program
Level 3: Testing Testing
Product testing is completed to ensure that any questionable materials meet manufacturers’ specifications. Product samples are also periodically tested to ensure product consistency and testing.
Testing includes:
- De-capsulation test
- Ability to solder test
- Surface contamination analysis
